Who we are

Having started off as a spin-off of the WZL
at the RWTH Aachen, …

…we are now a strongly growing start-up with close connections to industry and science. In practice, IconPro supports manufacturing companies in the digitization of their production and develops software for the industrial application of artificial intelligence, in individual projects and as software-as-a-service. IconPro focuses on the application areas “predictive maintenance” of production units, “cognitive quality control” providing AI-based decision support during inspections, and “AI-based process analysis” for statistical analysis and correlation of production data. IconPro GmbH offers various services to support and implement industrial AI projects, ranging from software development and consulting on the appropriate data structure to workshops and seminars.

Our Vision

We make the production
more productive and better quality

…for and with our international customers from medium-sized companies to large corporations. Our customers benefit from increased quality and productivity through the identification and use of optimization potentials in their production and quality processes. Data is extracted from programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or central databases and analyzed using machine learning. Whether predictive maintenance, AI-based image recognition or predictive quality control – intelligent data analysis can be fully automated and visualized through dashboards. This results in more repeatable, transparent and efficient processes in your production. Our goal is to help our customers focus on the essentials – developing and selling their product!

The IconPro Team

Markus Ohlenforst

Managing Director

Markus Ohlenforst worked as PHD researcher and head of a research group in the field of production metrology at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University. Before, he studied Computational Engineering Science at the RWTH Aachen University. In 2013, he won the Best Junior Engineer Award of the WZL for his Master Thesis about a software solution for the automated uncertainty determination of On-Machine-Measurements. In the years after, he deepened his knowledge as PHD researcher and team leader in various research and digitization projects for national and international industrial clients.

Machine Learning solutions will drive quality and productivity of producing companies to new levels

Dr.-Ing. Edgar Dietrich

Managing Director

Edgar Dietrich founded and led the Q-DAS GmbH & Co. KG. Before, he was professor for technical informatics in Mannheim. Q-DAS software set standards for quality assurance in industrial production. 200.000 users in 8.000 companies all over the world trust in Q-DAS today. In 2015, Edgar Dietrich sold the internationally successful Q-DAS group to Hexagon M. Today, he is a management consultant of Hexagon MI. Besides, he is theĀ  author of standard works of literature in process statistics. He holds the chair of the standards comitee ISO TC 69 SC 4. SC 4 is responsible for all ISO standards for statistical analysis in product and process management.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Robert Schmitt

Scientific Advisor

Robert Schmitt is a professor at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University. He is a member of the Boards of Directors the WZL as well as of the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology. Across the world and for many decades now the WZL has stood for successful and forward-thinking research and innovation in the area of production engineering. Prof. Schmitt’s focus lies in the combination of measuring, software and assembly technology as well as in the quality-oriented process design, where he is known as one of the globally leading experts.

Dr.-Ing. Martin Peterek

Scientific Advisor

Martin Peterek is the managing chief engineer of Prof. Schmitts chair of production metrology and quality management at the WZL of RWTH Aachen University. He was awarded by the examination comitee for his dissertation about uncertainties of on-machine-measurements. His diploma thesis, which he wrote at the WZL got him an award by the Dr.-Ing. Siegfried Werth Foundation. Martin Peterek is a popular speaker and known as a scientific expert for distributed metrology systems and model-based production technologies.
